12th Annual Burger Wars Returns June 6, 2026!

Beloved Community Event Combines Friendly Competition and Giving Back

One of the community’s most anticipated culinary events is back. The 12th Annual Burger Wars will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in downtown Opelika, bringing together grill masters, local businesses, and restaurants for a fun-filled day of burgers, community, and philanthropy.

Burger Wars features teams competing in three categories: Amateur, Corporate, and Pro (restaurants and caterers). Each serving up their best burger creations in hopes of earning cash prizes, trophies, and year-long bragging rights. Event attendees will have the opportunity to sample burgers from each team and vote to determine the coveted Crowd Favorite winners.

Proceeds from Burger Wars benefit several deserving community organizations, including the Food Bank of East Alabama, helping provide critical support to those in need throughout the region.

“Burger Wars has become such a special tradition for our community,” said Brooke Kastner, the 2026 Chairperson of Burger Wars. “It’s incredible to see so many people come together to enjoy great food, support local businesses, and make a meaningful impact for organizations doing important work right here at home.”

In addition to the grilling competition, attendees can connect with local businesses and community partners. The event continues to grow each year, attracting hundreds of attendees and showcasing the creativity and talent of both seasoned professionals and passionate backyard grillers.

“Whether you’re competing on the grill or sampling burgers with friends and family, Burger Wars offers something for everyone,” said Kastner. “It’s a fun, energetic event that highlights the best of our community while supporting causes that truly make a difference.”

Admission to the event is free, and tasting tickets will be available for purchase on-site on a first-come, first-served basis, so come early before they sell out!

All proceeds directly support participating nonprofit organizations.
